We live in a society where great demands and responsibilities are placed upon us.
Today, about one in seven people are suffering from stress or anxiety at any one time in the UK.
While some people manage, more and more people are showing signs of over-anxiety which leads to stress. This can have a significant impact upon quality of life and well being.
To some extent, feeling anxious and stressed about a certain situation is a normal part of life and can even improve performance.
The stress response known as ‘Fight or Flight’ is a primal response that protects you against threats in your environment. So if danger is present your body triggers a rush of blood to your arms and legs so that you can fight or run away.
It is an adrenaline response that causes your heart to beat faster, pumping oxygen around your body to those parts that need to protect you.
You may feel that you are on high and unable to calm down and relax.
Your mind may race, unable to focus or quieten down.
This is a normal part of human protection.
However, when this response becomes prolonged or related to situations maybe at work or at home and where it exceeds what is helpful, it can become debilitating and harmful.
Anxiety may take the form of a dread of specific experiences, or a more generalised anxiety known as ‘Free Floating’ anxiety, where the sufferer is unsure what is actually causing their response.
In both of these cases sufferers start to feel they are losing control and their physical or emotional health and their quality of life can be severely affected.

Hypnotherapy is a highly successful way of managing or eliminating stress and anxiety.
We will work together to assess your anxiety identifying the root of your stress. This will determine whether it is a specific situation or a more generalised ‘Free floating’ experience for you.
I also use Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) to help you identify ways in which your self-talk and behaviour may be preventing you from approaching life’s challenges in a more positive and confident way.
I will then use hypnosis which is a gentle but powerful approach to helping you to overcome your feelings of stress and anxiety.
Hypnosis is a very pleasant experience of deep relaxation of both mind and body.
Whilst in this state, the subconscious mind can be very receptive to beneficial suggestions and accepting directions which promote positive change and free you from your feelings of stress and anxiety.
